Zdeslav Šantić: Tourist revenues down EUR 750mn - 10.12.2009
In fact, 10.6mn tourist visits were registered, the State Bureau of Statistics (DZS) reports, which is a 3% drop y/y, with 1% lower number of tourist stays or 55.5mn.
A drop in consumption over the summer months and lower prices of hotel accomodation have contributed to a drop in tourist revenues, forecasted at EUR 750mn, Zdeslav Šantić, analyst at Splitska banka, claims.
"Financial effect will be lower than last year, which is why tourist revenues should not exceed EUR 7bn", Šantić adds.
However, minister of tourism, Damir Bajs, claims Croatia realized one of the best results among Mediterannean countries.
