Croatia expects twofold rise in number of Ukrainian tourists - 05.05.2009
The meeting was held at the Tourism Ministry after the Croatian government recently decided to cancel visa requirements for Ukrainians in the period between 1 May and 31 October this year. The decision is part of an action plan specially designed to support Croatian tourism during the ongoing global economic crisis.
The Ukrainian ambassador thanked the Croatian government and Minister Bajs for that decision, describing it as a historically important move for the two friendly countries.
The diplomat believes that the measure would not only help increase the number of tourists from the Ukraine but would also facilitate other forms of economic cooperation between his country and Croatia.
He also expects the measure to help increase trade between the two countries, which totaled USD 220 million in 2008.
He added that Ukraine would consider lifting visas for Croatians.
