Record tourists traffic in January - 10.03.2008
According to the data of the State Bureau of Statistics the increase is the result of more than 134,000 tourist arrivals to Croatia and 347,400 overnight stays in January, reports HINA news agency.
There were more Croatian tourists than the foreign ones, i.e. nearly 80,000 or 6% more than in January 2007.
Croatian tourists had 208,600 overnight stays in January - an increase of 8%. They accounted for 60% of total number of overnight stays.
Although there were less foreign tourists, there were 17% more arrivals (54,300) and 15% more overnight stays (140 thousand) in January this year than in 2007.
It should be taken into account that this data include January 1, the first day of the New Year, when large numbers of foreign and Croatian tourists visit Croatia and when Croatian and foreign schools organize holiday trips.
The Italians had most overnight stays in January in Croatia – nearly 18%, tourists from Bosnia and Herzegovina – 12.5%, Germany and Slovenia 9% each and Austria 8%.
