Travel documents


Tourists need a passport or other identification documents recognized by international agreement. Tourist may stay for up to three months. Visas, if required, may be obtained at any border crossing but better check with your travel agent, Croatian travel agencies or contact the Croatian consulate nearest to you before leaving home (click here for visa regulations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Croatia.

Accompanied dogs and cats must have an International Certificate issued by an authorised veterinarian evidencing that at least 15 days, but not more than six months, passed since the vaccination against rabies. A driving license, traffic license and the relevant insurance documents (except for countries that have other regulations) are necessary for entry into Croatia with a vehicle. Boats and yachts brought by visitors for their own use need not be declared, but a proof of ownership (title deed) is required.

Customs


Custom regulations of the Republic of Croatia are harmonized with the standards of the EU Member States. There are no custom fees for personal belongings. Foreign visitors are allowed to bring the following items duty-free: 200 cigarettes, one bottle of spirits, one kilogram of coffee or tea, and perfumes for personal use Professional and technical equipment of substantial value should be reported when entering the country.

Foreign currency can be imported and exported freely. Domestic currency up to the value of 2,000 Kuna can be exported.

Art objects may be taken out of Croatia only with the written export permit issued by State Department for the protection of cultural heritage. Art objects and archaeological, ethnographic and historical items classified as Croatian Cultural heritage may be taken out of the country only temporarily (again with the export permit issued by the State Department for the Protection of Cultural Heritage).
