There are telephone booths everywhere; telephone sets operate by means of magnetic cards sold, together with postage stamps in post offices and at newsstands. Stamps are also sold at hotel and tourist complexes receptions. All post offices have public fax service, offer telephoning, parcel packing, telegram and money exchanging service and operate as savings banks where local currency can be deposited and withdrawn and bills paid. Post offices in tourist destinations and major cities, that offer money exchanging service, also act as Western Union agents for payment of money received and remittal of money worldwide as well as agents for tax refund of tax-free international coupons. These two services are also offered by some banks.

Most post offices are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Saturdays until midday or 1 p.m. All year long on-duty post offices in large cities and offices in major tourist destinations in high season are open Monday to Saturday 7.00 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Sundays and public holidays 8 a.m. to midday or 1 p.m. DHL and TNT air-express carrier services are also available.

Using a phone card one may call abroad directly from any public phone. Two Croatian GSM networks have concluded roaming agreements with almost all GSM networks around the world (in some countries with several). They also provide tourist information. Both GSM providers offer service packages with pre-paid phone cards that enable you to call from and within the local network and better control your charges. Around 70 % of all hotels have Internet kiosks or offer computers for Internet connections of their guest. Cybercafes can be found in all major cities and tourist destinations.
