Currency
The official currency is the Kuna (HRK), divided into 100 Lipas. Domestic currency up to the value of HRK 2,000 can be exported. Foreign currencies can be imported and exported freely. Cash/Cheques
Most banks open at 8 am. Some also stay open on Saturdays and Sundays.
Cash dispensing machines accepting most frequently used international debit and credit cards are located in all major tourist destinations.

Exchange offices
Foreign currencies can be exchanged at banks, exchange offices, post offices and at most tourist agencies, hotels and camping grounds. The exchanged domestic currency, before departure, can be changed to any foreign currency in any bank or exchange office.
Banking hours are 7 or 8 a.m. to 4 or 7 p.m. from Monday to Friday. On Saturdays some banks are open until midday or 12.30 p.m. In the larger cities some banks are also open on Sundays. Exchange offices at main railway station and bus terminals, international airports and harbour terminals, border crossings, bigger marinas generally work 24 hours a day or are open to service the arriving and departing passengers.
Eurocheques and personal cheques are exchanged only at banks. Travellers cheques are cashed at all banks, and at most exchange office which have contracts with banks. Some hotels accept payment with travellers cheques but we suggest you should check when placing your reservation.
